Here’s a little introduction to our Board Member Janet Bass. Have fun getting to know this busy and dynamic woman.

Why FTN?: To socialize with others that have Fox Terriers in their lives. To have a support network when our Terriers have health issues or pass over the Rainbow Bridge. Also to get suggestions on training, health, travel with Terriers etc. from other Terrier owners. Share the good times and the bad times.

Objectives: For the short term, get the website back up and running. Expand membership to FTN. Get FTN members involved in exploring ways to increase donations to the two health funds. In the long run, continue to fund donations to the two health funds. Have Terrier merchandise available for purchase (to help in funding health funds)

A Tid Bit: I have so many stories due to traveling and hiking in the US with my Terriers. My mother and I traveled to Silverton, Colorado with Mandy Sue and Jack Joe Bob to attend Hardrockers’ Holiday (my brother used to compete in the mining competition there). After spending the day wandering around town and visiting friends we decided to take the dogs over and watch the Silverton-Durango Narrow Gauge train leave town.

We arrived at the train station about fifteen minutes before the train left town. The station master told us that it was fun to watch the train leave by sitting out on the platform…which we did.

My mother and I were sitting on a bench and Jack Joe Bob was laying nearby and Mandy Sue was on guard watching everything. The train started leaving the area in town where it had parked and headed towards the station on its way out of town.

Mandy Sue became very alert and was watching the train and Jack was ignoring it. When the train got to the crossing by the station Mandy Sue started barking at it. She was jumping up and down and barking at it. The engineer and fireman were laughing at her as the engine and coal tender passed. All the passengers in the cars were laughing at her. She was telling that train what for.

There is a two man “put-put” car that follows the train in case someone drops something from the passenger cars and also checks the track back to Durango. The two fellows in the “put-put” stopped at the platform. Mandy Sue was still barking at the train. They were laughing and told her “You really chased that train out of town”.

The station master came out and she was laughing too. She said that dogs usually run into the station and hide under the benches when the train comes into or leaves town. Mandy Sue was the first to ever tell the train what for. Jack just ignored everything.

…Fox Terrier dreams: My Terrier dreams of playing ball.

…favorite smell is: Anything that I am eating

…favorite treat: Any treat is acceptable to them. Pupperoni, Nudges, whatever treats the veterinarians have etc.

…is mostly likely to get excited about: Whenever I grab leashes which means they get to go somewhere with me.

…tells me he/she loves me when: Both follow me wherever I go in the house or yard. Excited greetings when I come home after leaving them (no matter how long they have been alone). Cuddling on either side of me on the couch. Allowing me to have my body width on the edge of the full size bed while both are jammed up against me so I can’t move.

…loves/ hates rain: They love rain…..unless the thunder is close and loud.

…loves/hates snow: They LOVE snow.

…loves/hates to swim: They LOVE to swim. Before I adopted Sugar Bear he competed in and is a Dock Diving Champion in the Ohio/Pennsylvania area.

…loves/hates a bath: Since Sugar Bear is a retired show dog, he pretty much tolerates baths…..but now, he doesn’t have to put on airs after getting a bath. Tassie Mae likes baths.
